After many years in larger cities, jazz musicians Ida and Jenny have returned to Västmanland, a province in central Sweden and part of the historic Bergslagen region. Once an important mining area, Bergslagen is still home to many mines and ironworks. Unlike its neighboring provinces, Dalarna and Värmland, Västmanland lacks a strong musical identity—a fact Ida and Jenny were keenly aware of when they set out to explore the region's musical traditions. With their rich background in jazz and improvisational music, they have masterfully blended gems from various genres to create something uniquely their own. The result is a playful, vibrant program where the double bass and saxophone truly shine. Jenny Kristoffersson, on double bass, brings warmth and a deep love for swing to the music. Over the years, she has collaborated with artists such as Thomas Darelid and Teresa Indebetou. Saxophonist Ida Wretling infuses the music with curiosity and energy. She is known for her work with her own band IdKa Jazz, the Kathrine Windfeld Big Band, and the duo Medi. In 2023, IdKa Jazz released the critically acclaimed album "Chapter Two." Both Ida and Jenny have contributed to numerous recordings, appeared on radio and television, taught at music conservatories, and toured extensively, both in Sweden and internationally.
